The New York Public Library (NYPL), a New York City institution, has appointed Jennifer Fermino as its Vice President of Communications and Marketing. Amy Segelin from Chaloner partnered with Jaimie Cohen from Patino Associates to lead the search for this role based in New York City.
In her role as Vice President, Jen will oversee all of the internal and external communications and marketing strategies for the historic organization. She will work with the Executive Leadership team to shape the organization’s narrative and create a cogent proactive and reactive communications approach for the organization. Through the creative use of storytelling, Jen will help bring the Library’s branches and research libraries to life for patrons and the public and build awareness for the overall NYPL brand. Reporting to the Chief of Staff, Sam Rubin, Jen will manage a 25+ person communications team.
Prior to joining the NYPL, Jen was a former reporter with both the New York Post and the Daily News;she served as the City Hall Bureau Chief under Mayors Michael Bloomberg and Bill de Blasio. Jen was also the Communications Director for the New York City Council and a Senior Advisor for External Affairs to former Speaker Corey Johnson. Most recently, she was the Managing Director of Communications at Moonshot Strategies, a New York City-based political consulting, communications and government relations firm.
The New York Public Library has been an essential provider of free books, information, ideas, and education for all New Yorkers for more than 125 years. Founded in 1895, NYPL is the nation’s largest public library system and the fourth largest in the world. It includes their world-renowned research centers at the Stephen A. Schwarzman Building, the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture, and The New York Public Library for the Performing Arts as well as 89 neighborhood libraries across the Bronx, Manhattan, and Staten Island, including the all-new Stavros Niarchos Foundation Library.
