Informed. Passionate. Committed. These words describe the style of each member of the Patino Associates team towards our client work, towards our relationships with communications leaders, and towards our respective football teams.
Michael started Patino Associates in 2008, practically on a dare. Armed with a decades worth of experience from building the Corporate Communications practice at Russell Reynolds and then Spencer Stuart, Michael set out to create a firm that would set the standard for recruiting leadership talent across any and all communications disciplines.
“Search was for me because I get great satisfaction out of finishing things – puzzles, to-do lists and, of course, searches. Our approach is to take our business personally. Even after we finish the search, we celebrate the media victories of our clients and candidates and share their pain when the press is merciless.“
Before launching Patino Associates, Michael was a consultant in the Corporate Communications Practice of Spencer Stuart, and before that developed the Corporate Communications Practice at Russell Reynolds Associates. Previously, Michael was an Account Manager with the Corporate Executive Board, a "best practices" consulting firm where he was responsible for over sixty relationships with Fortune 1000 firms. Before that, Michael worked as the Director of Special Projects in the Sports Division of E.J. Krause & Associates. Michael began his career in public relations at Entertainment Weekly, a Time Inc. publication.
Michael received his B.A. degree from Princeton University. Michael and his wife, Karyn, live in Vienna, VA with their three children, Eli, Callie, and Thomas.
Jessica Bayer joined Patino Associates as an Executive Director in 2018 after spending more than a decade recruiting outstanding communications leaders for a number of the world’s largest and most respected public relations agencies. Jessica has built her reputation in the communications industry as a trusted advisor who understands the evolving nature of agencies and their value to clients, by developing and maintaining strong relationships with industry leaders.
Before joining Patino Associates, Jessica served as the Director, U.S. Talent Acquisition with WPP’s top ten public relations agency, Burson-Marsteller. In this role, Jessica led senior level recruitment across the agency’s Corporate and Financial, Technology, Healthcare, Consumer, Brand Marketing, and Digital practices. Jessica worked closely with Burson-Marsteller’s C-suite and practice leadership to identify gaps in the agency’s capability offering, develop leadership profiles to build and/or lead capabilities, and ultimately recruit to fill the gaps in talent.
Prior to Burson-Marsteller, Jessica spent seven years as a senior recruiter at Publicis, leading U.S. Talent Acquisition for MSLGROUP, Kekst, Qorvis, and Rokkan. Jessica successfully partnered with internal stakeholders to ensure recruitment strategies were in alignment with the overall business strategy, developed strategic plans to recruit the industry’s best talent, and enhanced client teams.
Jessica started her career at Corporate Executive Board (CEB) in sales, but quickly found her passion for recruitment and transferred to the talent acquisition team. She graduated from Louisiana State University with a bachelor’s degree in Public Relations and a minor in Business Administration.
